Sea the Change is looking for a junior professional to join its Communications and Marketing team as an intern, with the aim of supporting the growth of the company’s communications, enhancing the visibility of its impact projects, and developing commercial tools.

The position is open to:

  • university students interested in completing a curricular internship as part of their academic programme;

  • individuals who have completed their studies and are interested in an extracurricular internship, in accordance with the requirements and regulations in force in the Veneto Region.

The selected candidate will work alongside the Sea the Change team and contribute to the communication of projects related to marine protection, corporate sustainability, the Blue Economy, and the development of solutions with a high environmental and social impact.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support the team with the following activities:

  • managing and updating Sea the Change’s social media channels;

  • developing and preparing content for LinkedIn, Instagram, and other digital channels;

  • updating the content of the company website;

  • supporting the creation of commercial presentations and communication materials for clients, partners, and stakeholders;

  • drafting copy, creating simple graphics, and preparing educational materials relating to the company’s projects;

  • supporting the communication of events, initiatives, and campaigns;

  • collecting and organising photographic materials, videos, and project-related content;

  • monitoring trends, best practices, and relevant content in the fields of sustainability, marine protection, corporate social responsibility, and the Blue Economy.

The activities will be carried out for training purposes, under the supervision of a company tutor and in accordance with the objectives set out in the individual training plan.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a curious, accurate, and motivated person with an interest in sustainability and in communicating positive-impact projects.

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • a background in communications, marketing, economics, sustainability, environmental sciences, international relations, or related fields;

  • strong written Italian skills;

  • knowledge of English;

  • familiarity with the main social media platforms;

  • ability to use tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, and other basic digital tools;

  • interest in sustainability, innovation, marine protection, and corporate social responsibility;

  • independence, initiative, and attention to detail.

Type of Internship and Conditions

The internship pathway will be defined according to the profile of the selected candidate and may be activated under one of the following arrangements.

Curricular Internship

The curricular internship is intended for students who are regularly enrolled in a university or training programme that includes an internship.

The internship will be activated through a specific agreement between Sea the Change and the promoting university or training institution, together with the preparation of an individual training plan.

The duration, number of hours, possible recognition of academic credits, and other conditions will be defined in accordance with the rules of the university or promoting institution.

No expense reimbursement or allowance is provided for the curricular internship.

Extracurricular Internship

The extracurricular internship will be activated in accordance with the regulations in force in the Veneto Region through:

  • an agreement between the promoting body and Sea the Change, acting as the host organisation;

  • an individual training plan;

  • the appointment of a tutor from the promoting body and a company tutor;

  • the required insurance arrangements and mandatory notifications under the applicable regulations.

The extracurricular internship includes a participation allowance of at least €650 gross per month.

The final amount of the allowance, the duration of the internship, and the weekly working hours will be specified in the individual training plan and communicated to the selected candidate before the internship begins.

The internship does not constitute an employment relationship and is intended to provide guidance, training, and the acquisition of professional skills.

2. Purposes and Legal Basis of Processing

Personal data will be processed exclusively for the following purposes:

  • receiving and managing the application;

  • assessing whether the candidate’s profile is suitable for the position;

  • contacting the candidate and arranging interviews;

  • carrying out activities required for the possible activation of the internship;

  • complying with legal, administrative, and organisational obligations connected with the recruitment process.

The processing is necessary in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract and, where applicable, to comply with legal obligations to which the Data Controller is subject.

3. Processing Methods

Personal data will be processed using digital systems and, where necessary, paper-based tools, with appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect the data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, disclosure, or unlawful use.

No decisions will be made solely by automated means, and no profiling systems will be used for candidate selection, unless otherwise specified in a separate notice.

4. Provision of Personal Data

Providing the personal data requested for the application is voluntary.

However, failure to provide the information required to assess the candidate’s profile may prevent the Data Controller from considering the application.

5. Recipients of Personal Data

Personal data may be processed exclusively by authorised Sea the Change personnel and collaborators involved in the recruitment process.

Where necessary, the data may also be disclosed to:

  • internship promoting bodies;

  • universities, training institutions, and employment services;

  • employment consultants, legal advisers, and administrative consultants;

  • providers of IT, e-mail, storage, and document management services;

  • public authorities and institutions, where required by law.

Service providers processing personal data on behalf of the Data Controller will be appointed as Data Processors pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR, where required.

Personal data will not be publicly disclosed.

6. Transfers Outside the European Economic Area

The use of certain IT or e-mail services may involve the processing of personal data outside the European Economic Area.

In such cases, transfers will take place in accordance with Articles 44 and following of the GDPR, on the basis of an adequacy decision issued by the European Commission or through the implementation of appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

Further information on the safeguards applied may be requested from the Data Controller.

7. Data Retention Period

Personal data relating to the application will be retained for the time necessary to manage the recruitment process and subsequently for a maximum period of 12 months from receipt of the application, unless a longer retention period is necessary to comply with legal obligations or to protect the rights of the Data Controller.

Should the internship be activated, the relevant data will be retained for the different periods required under the applicable legislation governing the internship and the individual training plan.

8. Rights of the Data Subject

Where applicable, candidates may exercise the rights provided for under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR, including the right to:

  • obtain confirmation as to whether their personal data is being processed and access such data;

  • request the correction or updating of their personal data;

  • request the deletion of their personal data;

  • obtain restriction of processing;

  • object to processing based on legitimate interest;

  • receive their personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, where applicable;

  • withdraw any consent previously given, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
