At Sea the Change, we are committed to forming partnerships with companies that represent an example of sustainability and environmental awareness within their sector. We are pleased to announce that our client Venezia1937 has been selected as a winner of the European fuTOURiSME Open Call, a European program that supports innovation in the tourism sector, promoting sustainable, accessible, and inclusive practices.

Venezia1937, participating with the Green Tide project, was among the winners, obtaining a prize of €30,000 and specialized consultancy. At the heart of the project is the implementation of ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management. Within Green Tide, the company has chosen to integrate sustainability in a structured way into all its daily activities by adopting an Environmental Management System (EMS). This is a significant change that allows the company to monitor, reduce, and prevent its environmental impacts, in line with the expectations of an increased awareness among clients.

Technological innovation represents another fundamental element of the Green Tide project. A customized software will be developed for real-time environmental monitoring. The system collects data on energy consumption, waste production, and other environmental indicators, offering useful information to optimize resource use and improve operational efficiency. This tool promotes transparency and accountability, drawing inspiration from the most recent international studies, such as the OECD approach to measuring tourism sustainability.

The third pillar of the project is the empowerment of personnel: in collaboration with Sea the Change, training programs dedicated to sustainability themes will be activated, actively involving the Venezia1937 team in the transition toward more conscious work models. This approach aims to generate a sustainable culture within the company, where every employee becomes a protagonist of the change, acquiring skills and motivation.

The project demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability, combining ISO 14001 certification with advanced technological solutions, staff training, and digital monitoring tools. This global approach responds to the urgent need for tourism businesses in the Venice region to shift towards greener practices, mitigating the negative effects of overtourism and positioning the project as a model of sustainable tourism.

The environmental commitment of Venezia1937 does not stop with this project. In collaboration with Sea the Change, a process of measuring, reducing, and offsetting its emissions has been undertaken. The offsetting activities involve the purchase of blue carbon credits generated through protection interventions in the Venetian lagoon, where phytoplankton and macroalgae capture carbon present in the atmosphere. In 2024, Venezia1937 offset 4 tonnes of CO₂, balancing the emissions generated by tourist routes through the purchase of these credits.

Through the collaboration with Sea the Change and the implementation of the Green Tide project, Venezia1937 positions itself as a reference model for sustainable tourism management, not only in Venice but also in a national and international context. A concrete example of how innovation can respect the environment while creating value for the business, people, and the territory.
